Rookie Corner–Buttercup (#3)

We are doing quick surveys to learn something new about our rookies and to share our lovely rookies with the world! Take a peak at our first rookie this year, Monica Matsumoto (She is in blue)!

Q: What is your favorite dinosaur?

Buttercup: Stegosaurus...apparently the big plates on its back were a form of solar heating/cooling!

Q: Would you rather be a supermodel or a cheerleader?

Buttercup: Cheerleader, for sure. Cheerleaders try to get other people involved and excited, so their only role is not to just look pretty. The legit ones also have to be athletic. I also love watching sports, so I would rather jump around and cheer for others (and lead by example), than walk down a runway with expensive, skimpy clothing.

Q: What is your favorite throw? (for example, IO flick huck to a fast receiver, OI around break to the dump, etc.)

Buttercup: I’m still trying to just throw any throw, but I think it would be really fun to throw an IO flick huck to someone sprinting down the field. However, being more realistic, my favorite throw is just a nice, flat, low, and accurate flick around the mark to a cutter running in.

Q: Would you rather be a Jedi knight or an elf from Rivendale?

Buttercup: Jedi knight. I love Star Wars and always wanted to use a light sabre, as long as I don’t lose any fingers. Jedis have to be very skilled, intelligent, and quick on their feet.

Q: What is your ideal first date? (i.e. romantic outings on the beach with the sun setting, a glass of wine, etc. We need details!)

Buttercup: Ahh, oh no. Something simple, since it’s only the first date, and something outdoors. Hiking on a beautiful spring day (which Houston doesn’t really have...Virginia has beautiful hikes and lovely spring weather), and a picnic lunch (PB&J, brownies, fruit, veggies and hummus, apple juice), and engaging in meaningful conversation...not a huge fan of small talk. Then, if we wanted to keep the date going, we could watch a movie on a nice comfy couch. That’s all.

Q: If you could have a torrid affair with anyone from past or present, who would he/she be and why?

Buttercup: You guys cheated. This is a question from the Rice Freshman form. I answered a different one instead, and I still don’t know my answer. Since I always have to do what you guys say, haha, then I’ll choose someone. Zinedine Zidane. First, his parents are Algerian, so maybe he speaks Arabic? Soccer players are the most attractive men, in my opinion, and I always loved watching him play and admired his skill and poise. He didn’t try to show off, so hopefully he’s not as egotistical as a lot of other athletes. Unfortunately, he’s already married to a Spanish dancer and has four kids, so I wouldn’t want to ruin that.

Q: Would you rather layout D or sky someone?

Buttercup: Layout D because blocking people is so intense. It frustrates the other team and gets our team really pumped. Plus, maybe the person you sky can’t jump, so then it doesn’t require as much skill, but laying out for D is all up to YOU and your anticipation/desire.
